Before elves were young and dwarves found gold *Graddark wrought from darkness cold *Stars of night, the sun and light *Deep beneath his mountain hold * On blackened iron hammer rung *While gods above, they danced and sung *The mountains groaned, gold and stone *He forged the lands of Maarl young * The gods they cried for more and more *Graddark’s shoulders this burden bore*The hammer smote, each new note *Fashioned peoples to aid his chore * Yet soon they left him all alone *Encased in iron, the gold, the stone *Now in the dark, his hammer spark *Flashed like fire his anger shown * He worked forsaken for an age *His burning arm fueled his rage *A final stroke, the anvil broke *And evil leaked out of its cage * Now Graddark’s Forge bellows blight *It hates the suns, and binds the light *The mountain roars, the lava pours *Who can mend the Forge of Night? *
